MSW Student Receives 3rd Place

As part of the UConn Civility Metanoia 2012, Brunilda Ferraj, an advanced policy practice student entered the civility poster contest. She received 3rd place for her submission. Congratulations to Brunilda on her excellent poster and representing the School of Social Work.

Associate Dean Catherine Havens Presenter at the 2012 UConn Women’s Advance Conference

“The Impact of Women as Leaders and Policy Makers: Lessons Learned from the Past” was the focus of the workshop presented by Cathy Havens on May 15, 2012 at the 20th annual conference. This year’s theme was Empowered Women Build Strong Communities: Raising Voices – Creating Change. Catherine M. Havens, Associate Dean and Director of the MSW ProgramCathy’s areas of specialization include women’s studies focusing on women and public policy, women in administration, women offenders, criminal justice, domestic violence, law and the family, and law and social work.

Robert P. Connolly, MSW ’71 – Alumni Leader Making a Difference

Robert P. Connolly serves as a geriatric consultant to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in Baltimore, MD. He has guided minimum data set 3.0 (MDS 3.0) Section Q Return to Community implementation issues, facilitated federal nursing home transition partnerships between CMS, Veterans Administration and Administration for Community Living (ACL), formerly Administration on Aging and provided technical assistance to State Medicaid Agencies regarding information technology and prospective payment issues. Bob was named an NASW Foundation Social Work Pioneer in 2010 and serves on the NASW’s Pioneer Planning Committee and the Center on Global Aging committee at the Catholic University of America National School of Social Services.
