New Bookstore for Downtown Hartford Campus

A spacious, centrally located spot just steps from UConn’s new downtown Hartford campus has been selected as the site of the new Barnes & Noble, which will serve as both the University’s bookstore and a resource for the city’s many thousand residents and visitors.

Barnes & Noble will open later this year in about 11,150 square feet on the first floor of the Front Street Lofts building, which is just across the street from the main entrance to the new UConn downtown campus and very close to the new location for the School of Social Work at 38 Prospect Street.

UConn Scholars Examine Violence and Trauma

The UConn School of Social Work is home to multiple researchers committed to understanding the effects of violence and trauma, and exploring how social workers can best serve people shaped by these forces. UConn scholars study populations including Latina women victimized by domestic violence, teens in stressful urban environments, and international refugees.  The School of Social Work has hired four new faculty who study violence prevention from a number of perspectives, including child welfare and community violence. Their research builds on the strengths of faculty members who are already working on areas associated with trauma.
