Doris LaPlante, LCSW, LMFT


Doris I. LaPlante, LCSW, LMFT earned her MSW degree from UConn School of Social Work. Her first position as a clinical social worker was at the Bristol Hospital Outpatient Mental Health Clinic. The clinic also served as a site for the Bristol Hospital Family Therapy Training Institute, a COAMFTE accredited post-degree training program. Doris enrolled in that program, became an AAMFT Approved Supervisor, and eventually served as a trainer, assistant director, and then co-Director of the program jointly operated with the UConn School of Family Studies. Doris moved to the UConn Counseling and Mental Health Services Clinic where she worked as a clinician and served as the Acting Director during her last 9 months there. She supervised students in the MFT program, part of the Human Development and Family Studies program (HDFS) at UConn. Doris was offered a faculty position in HDFS as the Director of the Humphrey Clinic for Marriage and Family Therapy, the training clinic for students enrolled in the MFT program. In that position Doris directed clinic operations, provided individual and group supervision to both masters and doctoral students, and co-taught the supervision course to doctoral students seeking their AAMFT Approved supervision designation. Doris has a private practice in Glastonbury, Connecticut where she provides a broad range of clinical services to individuals, couple, and families as well as family therapy supervision/consultation to licensed clinicians in the community. She consults in family therapy at the Young Adult Services Program at United Services in Willimantic, Connecticut.
