Elnara Klicheva, MA, MSW

Elnara Klicheva, MA, MSW is a passionate advocate for human rights, hailing from Karakalpakstan, an autonomous region in Uzbekistan. Her personal journey, marked by challenges and triumphs, has deeply influenced her commitment to marginalized communities and inspired her pursuit of advanced studies in the field of social work and human rights.

She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Jurisprudence from Karakalpak State University in Uzbekistan, which set her on a trajectory toward understanding and intervening in the complexities of human rights issues on an institutional level. Building upon this foundation, she attained her Master of Arts in International Studies with a Human Rights concentration from the University of Connecticut (UConn). With a desire to delve further into policy-making and its implications, she pursued and completed her Master of Social Work with a Policy Practice Concentration from UConn’s School of Social Work. She completed her fieldwork at the Asylum and Human Rights Clinic, UConn Law School, where she closely worked with legal teams and community organizations to ensure access to resources for asylum seekers. The culmination of these experiences refined her research interest in understanding the experiences of asylum seekers shaped by the lack of access to social benefits. Elnara’s doctoral studies are focused on reshaping the discourse surrounding economic and social rights, emphasizing their nature as fundamental human rights rather than privileges tied to citizenship status.
