Ticket Information

  • Each graduate will each receive 10 commencement tickets for guests. Graduates do not need tickets for themselves.
  • There is no assigned seating.
  • Graduates will be able to indicate if any guest will need special accommodations once the RSVP form is released.

Ceremony

  • Who is eligible to participate?
    December 2024, May 2025, and August 2025 BSW, MSW, and PhD candidates.
  • How do I obtain my Regalia?
    Please see the Regalia section of website above.
  • How long will the ceremony last?
    Approximately 1.5-2.0 hours.
  • What time should graduates arrive?
    No later than 12:30 pm.
  • Are balloons allowed?
    Balloons are NOT permitted. Guests will be asked to leave them outside or return them to their vehicle.
  • Will my bag be checked?
    All bags will be checked upon entry. Backpacks and large bags are NOT permitted.
  • Can I bring food/beverages?
    Outside food and beverages are NOT permitted.

Diplomas & Diploma Covers

  • Will I receive my diploma during the ceremony?
    No. Your diploma will be mailed to the address you have on-file in Student Admin approximately eight weeks after your conferral date. Please ensure this address is up-to-date so that your diploma will get to you without issue.
  • How will I receive a diploma cover?
    You will receive a diploma cover at the ceremony.
  • How can I get a diploma cover if I am not attending the ceremony?
    Please e-mail commencementoffice@uconn.edu starting on May 22, 2024, to request one. Please include your full name, full mailing address, and type of degree received (Bachelors, Masters, Doctoral) and a cover will be sent to you. No requests will be fulfilled until May 22, 2024.

Honors Cords

  • Does the University distribute any cords to indicate Latin Honors?
    No. The University does not distribute any cords to indicate Latin Honors.

Participation in Commencement Ceremonies

  • Is my participation in the ceremony mandatory?
    No. Your participation is completely voluntary.
  • If I do not attend, will my name still be called?
    No. Your name will not be read if you are not in attendance.
