Patrick Muro, LCSW, MPH
Patrick Muro (he/they), LCSW, MPH, has a research focus on improving the quality of care that adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) receive from doctors, therapists, and community support through analyzing providers training and bias when working with adults with I/DD. He is specifically interested in how historical events and policies, as well as cultural attitudes towards individuals with I/DD, receive care from mental health providers, medical providers, and other providers who provide support to individuals with I/DD.
Patrick earned his Bachelor’s in Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies at the University of Connecticut, which laid a foundation for utilizing a feminist approach when working with individuals and groups in a therapeutic setting. Patrick also received his Masters in Social Work, Masters in Public Health, and a graduate certificate in Interdisciplinary Disability Studies in Public Health at the University of Connecticut. While in graduate school, Patrick completed the Connecticut Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities fellowship at the University of Connecticut.
