Connecticut ¡Adelante! Application Form

The UConn School of Social Work is offering Connecticut ¡Adelante!, an MSW program option designed to enhance the language proficiency for Spanish-English bilingual social work students pursuing a concentration in Individuals, Groups, and Families. Connecticut ¡Adelante! will help address Connecticut's increased workforce need by preparing MSW Spanish-speaking social work students to address the mental health needs of children and their families. This program aims to enhance the linguistic and socio-cultural competencies of bilingual MSW students to better understand, serve and improve the lives of Latino/a/x families.

Fluent is defined as the ability to converse with another person in a language other than English on a variety of subjects without much strain. Accepted students are required to take a Spanish proficiency exam.

Please describe your experiences with being asked to and/or utilizing your Spanish language skills (i.e., internship, education abroad, volunteering, work). What were these experiences like for you? In addition, please share any experience and/or interest you have in addressing the mental health needs of Latino/a/x children and their families. After participating in Connecticut ¡Adelante!, how do you see yourself contributing to the workforce in Connecticut?
