Orientation
Those who will be beginning the BSW program Fall 2026 are required to attend the 2026 BSW Student Orientation:

Students who are new to UConn will also need to attend a UConn Hartford Transfer Student Orientation taking place on July 9th. Visit the UConn Hartford Orientation site for more information.

PRIOR TO ORIENTATION:
Register for Courses
Register for Fall 2026 courses. Below is what you'll need:
- SOWK 2000 (if not previously taken*) - section of your choice
- SOWK 3100
- SOWK 3200
- SOWK 3250
*Minimum of 12 credits needed to be considered full-time.
Additional courses may be needed on a case-by-case basis.

Explore Housing Options
All BSW students will be assigned to the Hartford campus, and UConn now has campus housing in Hartford. If you are interested in living on campus for Fall 2026-Spring 2027 please email livingoncampus@uconn.edu as soon as possible, to request access to the application. Once given access you can apply for housing through your My Housing account under the applications tab.

The Social Work Student Association provides leadership, social and cultural educational engagement, community service opportunities, and events for all students. As an organization, it strives to educate others and facilitate discussions of social problems through learning experiences and advocacy at the University of Connecticut, Hartford Campus. The association is committed to advocating for inclusion, cultural awareness, and social change within the campus community and the city of Hartford. It promotes a positive image of the social work profession and empowers its members to identify the needs within surrounding communities. The organization encourages students to become involved in the community through professional experiences and service. By collaborating with other campus organizations, it works toward its overarching goal of supporting and nurturing the personal and professional development of its members, faculty, and the broader community.

Husky One Card
The Husky One Card is the official UConn ID for all students, faculty, and staff. It’s called the One Card because this one card serves many functions. Here is what the One Card can do for you:
