Donald F deGraffenried, LCSW
Donald F. deGraffenried, LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, specializing in the treatment of acute stress and posttraumatic stress with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). He maintains a private practice in New Haven, Ct., specializing in treating complex trauma with EMDR. He has over 25 years of experience as an EMDR therapist and has provided over 200 Part I and Part II EMDR trainings. His work has taken him to Hawaii, Bangkok, Thailand, Mumbai, India and Siem Reap, Cambodia
His approach to treatment is client centered, strength based, solution oriented, culturally sensitive and he actively works to engage the clients in a collaborative process, in the support of meaningful change. He brings the meditative work of Buddhist Monk Thich Nhat Hanh into his EMDR practice. deGraffenried has a special interest in EMD and the Recent Event Protocol.
deGraffenried is an EMDRIA Approved Facilitator, Consultant and a Senior Trainer for EMDR Training Solutions. deGraffenried was invited to present papers at the EMDR International Association Annual Conferences in 2002 (San Diego), 2005 (Seattle), 2007 (Dallas) 2008, (Phoenix) and 2009 (Atlanta). In 2006 he was elected to serve a three-year term on the Board of Directors for the EMDR International Association.
deGraffenried has coordinated a group of EMDR volunteers, for the past eight years, that provide brief treatment, pro bono EMDR treatment, for survivors of homicide referred by the Victim Advocate at the New Haven Police Department.
