Jie Zhao


Jiezhao is a PhD student at the University of Connecticut School of Social Work. Her research focuses on the social determinants of population health and the development of evidence-based health promotion strategies, with particular attention to underserved communities. She is especially interested in integrating traditional health management approaches with digital innovations to strengthen interdisciplinary collaborative care and reduce high-risk health behaviors.

Jiezhao earned a Bachelor’s degree in Public Affairs Administration and a Master’s degree in Social Medicine and Health Management in China. As a research assistant at the Southern University of Science and Technology, she contributed to projects aimed at optimizing the use of digital technologies in chronic disease management within China’s primary healthcare system. Her work involved analyzing real-world data to assess how digital tools can improve service delivery and patient outcomes. At UConn, she intends to deepen her research on digital health by designing and implementing community-based interventions that expand access to preventive resources and address health disparities among marginalized populations.
