Joy Learman, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor-in-Residence
Joy Learman is an assistant professor-in-residence at the University of Connecticut School of Social Work.
Dr. Learman’s teaching is heavily informed by her professional experience in program planning, management, and development for non-profit organizations. She has taught a wide range of courses on topics including social justice, research, policy, human behavior, family violence, and ecofeminism.
Dr. Learman joined the School of Social Work in 2022. She earned her Ph.D. in social work and a certificate in the portfolio program in women’s and gender studies from the University of Texas at Austin where her research explored the role of gender-based violence and inequality on women’s sexual and reproductive health. She earned her MS in social work from Columbia University and BSW from Brigham Young University.
