Taylor Tucker, MSW

Taylor M. Tucker, MSW, is a facilitator and health equity–centered social worker. He approaches his work with values of tenderness and rageful curiosity. His work is informed by his formal education in macro social work, having received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from the University of Connecticut. He has also been influenced by the mentors and communities that shared their knowledge and helped shape his approach. Taylor’s work is grounded in the belief that our systems deserve to serve everyone, with emphasis on LGBTQ+ and a specific focus on trans masculine individuals. His work is influenced by his previous position as a program director, focusing on health equity and antiracism programming and consulting.

Taylor aims to understand how identity negotiations are influenced by broader structural factors such as race, class, access to culturally informed care, and the wider socio-political context. His research focuses on the experiences of transgender men and transmasculine individuals as they navigate systems of power concerning masculinity and family formation. He is particularly interested in how transmasculine individuals pursue parenthood, define fatherhood, and navigate healthcare, legal, and social systems that were not designed to meet their needs. Taylor’s research seeks to enhance understanding and develop interventions related to fatherhood initiatives that specifically challenge barriers and create more effective social safety nets for transmasculine fathers. This work aims to foster healthier communities and establish a more equitable family-building experience for LGBTQ+ families, with an emphasis on access and agency, especially regarding the obstacles posed by socioeconomic status in the family-building process.

In addition to his research, Taylor is also the Partner and Chief of Strategy at The Cadence of Social Impact, where he leads program development, builds internal systems, and facilitates strategic processes that help values-driven organizations deepen their capacity and pursue meaningful change. Taylor uses each opportunity to expand his impact and support the communities he cares about, serving both on the board of the Partnership for Strong Community and the West Springfield Public Library.
